Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assigns A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationally for patient safety, announced today that St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea received an “A” ranking for Spring 2017.

“We are proud to receive an ‘A’ from Leapfrog, which recognizes our hospital as receiving the highest mark possible for patient safety,” said Nancy Graebner, president and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.  “This recognition identifies St. Joe’s Chelsea as being among the safest hospitals in the country.”

Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year.  It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
