Albion College sophomores Rayshawn Robinson and Nia Thomas have been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Athletes of the Week, Sheila Blackman, the league’s Director of Media Relations, announced Monday afternoon.

Robinson, a Jackson High School product, achieved a personal record of 148’ 6” to win the javelin throw in the Charles Gray Invitational at Alma College last Saturday. That throw currently ranks him second in the MIAA.

Robinson also finished fourth in the triple jump at 40’ 4” and sixth in the long jump at 19’ ¾”. He is ranked among the top six in the MIAA in both jumping events at this point of the season.

Thomas, from Honolulu, Hawai’i, achieved personal records in the triple jump (34’ 1 ½”) and 100 meters (13.02) in the meet at Alma. She was the top Division III performer in the triple jump, finishing behind a pair of athletes from Central Michigan University.

She also completed in the long jump (17’ 2 ¼”) and 4×100 relay at Alma.

Thomas leads the MIAA in the long jump at this point of the season, sailing 18’ 2 ½” in the March 25 meet at Indiana Wesleyan, and second in the triple jump.
