The Michigan Theatre presents “The Crow”.   A poetic guitarist is brought back to life by a crow a year after he and his fiancee are murdered.  Doors open at 7 PM, film begins at 7:30 PMM.  Admission $5.

The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market, today and tomorrow from 8am to 2pm.  The market, featuring seasonal farmers and other vendors is at Grand River Marketplace, corner of Glick Highway and Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson.

The Jackson District Library offers Yoga at the Meijer Branch every Friday at 8:30 AM with Jeanette Lamphere. Suggested donation of $3. Intended for adults.

The Eastern Branch of the Jackson District Library has Yoga with Elizabeth Hall at 9 AM.  Class suggested for adults and seniors.  Suggested donation is $2.

Jackson Young Professionals Barn Dance.  Bust out your flannel shirts, high waisted jeans and cowboy boots (if you have them)! It’s time to kick up your heels to some good ol’ country music!  We have certified square dance and line dance “callers” who will teach/lead us in a night of dancing in a 100+ year-old barn in the country. We guarantee this will be an event you won’t want to miss!   Pre-event social at The Crazy Cowboy in downtown Jackson from 5:30-7:00PM.  Party bus ride to the barn dance leaves the parking lot behind The Crazy Cowboy at 7:00PM.   Only 34 seats available on the bus, so buy your tickets quick so you don’t miss out.  Tickets for members are $10, $20 for non-members.  Snacks will be provided at the event (s’mores, hot dogs, etc.)  Party bus ride back to downtown Jackson at the end of the dance. Tickets available here.  See y’all there!

Friday Nights at Sandhill.  We are extending our hours Friday evenings until 10pm, come sit on the deck, enjoy a glass of wine, wine taste & grab some dinner!  The cafe will be open for orders until 9:30. John Louis Good will be here to entertain you, 6:30-8:30 on the deck-weather permitting.  In addition to our new Friday evening hours, we will be launching Sangria specials every weekend Friday-Sunday.  No cover, just come join us for a relaxing evening.

Free Family Movie Night sponsored by Jackson Community Federal Credit Union.  Join us for a night of free family fun.  Doors open at 6 PM with games and family activities.  Movie:  “Casper” begins at 7 PM.

Cranes, Colors and Cabernet Festival.   The Greater Sandhill Crane is celebrated with this fun, family-friendly festival. One of the largest Crane sanctuaries in Michigan, the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary is located within The Big 400. The Big 400 is a tourism area surrounding the Waterloo and Pinckney Recreation Areas. In the fall, Sandhill Cranes gather in staging areas like the Haehnle Sanctuary to begin the migration process. During the height of the staging period thousands of Cranes can be seen at the sanctuary. The cost to birdwatch at the Haehnle Sanctuary, as well as other locations within The Big 400, is free.   In honor of the Cranes, Colors & Cabernet Festival, the Sandhill Crane Winery will release their new vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery is open until 7:00 pm for late Crane watchers to stop by and warm up after their visit to the Haehnle Sanctuary. They will offer tastes of mulled wine all day to help warm any cold bird watchers. The winery’s cafe will be open all day! For more information call 517.764.0679. Free admission. First Annual Monster Cash Bash & Dinner, presented by Family Service and Children’s Aid.  $100 includes two dinners and a change to win $6,000 first place, $2,500 second place and $1,000 third place.  Costumes are optional, but a Best Costume prize will be awarded.  Maximum of 300 tickets will be sold for the event.  200 tickets must be sold or event will be a 50-50.  Cash bar available.  Commonwealth Commerce Center, 209 East Washington, Downtown Jackson.  For tickets call 517-787-7920.

Voice Your Piece for Autism Spaghetti Dinner.  This event will benefit our non-verbal children who have autism. Trinity Lutheran Church 150th Anniversary Museum.  Trinity Lutheran Church is celebrating its 150th year as a church in Jackson. To honor this milestone, a Trinity “Museum” has been organized with different galleries of artifacts, displays, and photos showing illustrative moments in Trinity’s history and our Jackson community within the context of community, national, and world events. Using archived church photos and documents and artifacts from Trinity’s history, as well as loaned artifacts from Ella Sharp Historical Museum in Jackson visitors can experience the growth and development of our church’s 150-year history.
