The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market, today and tomorrow from 8am to 2pm.  The market, featuring seasonal farmers and other vendors is at Grand River Marketplace, corner of Glick Highway and Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson.

The Jackson District Library offers at the Meijer Branch every Friday at 8:30 AM with Jeanette Lamphere. Suggested donation of $3. Intended for adults.

Yoga at the Spring Arbor Branch of the Jackson District Library today and every Friday at 9 AM with Amy Reamer.  Suggested donation of $5.

Suicide Awareness Remember There is Always Hope.  S.A.R.A.H is celebrating their birthday, the cost is $5 per person. There will be plenty going on at this event with a focus on Suicide Awareness:  Art preview & sales.  Information tables by Jackson Recovery, Jackson Suicide Coalition, New Vision, Save Our Youth, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Lansing Walking Out of Darkness.  Motivational performances by Riley Kid (Brother Minister) and Nicholas Baxter.  Live performances by local youth.  6 PM to 11 PM, Art 634, 634 North Mechanic Street. Jackson Pink Viking Project.  WIthington Stadium, Jackson High School.  The Jackson High Football Team competes tonight as “Pink VIkings” to raise awareness for cancer issues by celebrating cancer survivors, supporting those in active cancer treatment, and honoring the memory of those who have lost their battle.  Wear pink and support the Pink Viking Project.  Ceremony honoring those being remembered and honored from 6 PM to 7 PM in advance of the football game.

ERA Reardon Realty Wine Down to Benefit MDA.  A fun night of tasting Michigan’s top wines & craft beers, plus live music, silent auction & great food! All proceeds go to MDA Local Charities (Jerry’s Kids) to help support the many local families suffering from the effects of Muscular Dystrophy. You Are Magical:  A Benefit Art Show.  Join us for this free and fun event! Original art by our Girl Scouts & other local artists will be sold via silent auction, to benefit girl scouts in FL and TX, impacted by the recent hurricanes.  Enjoy “Thin Mint” cocoa served by our Girl Scouts, while you shop! Friday Nights at Sandhill.  We are extending our hours Friday evenings until 10pm, come sit on the deck, enjoy a glass of wine, wine taste & grab some dinner!  The cafe will be open for orders until 9:30.  Music by Paul on the Piano, 6:30-8:30 on the deck.  In addition to our new Friday evening hours, we will be launching Sangria specials every weekend Friday-Sunday.  No cover, just come join us for a relaxing evening.

Spring Arbor University presents the fourth annual Human Trafficking Conference on Saturday, October 14. The conference will be held on SAU’s Spring Arbor campus at 106 East Main Street. The cost of the conference for students is $25 and the cost for non-students is $50. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. and the conference will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 a.m., with lunch provided.  Social workers who attend will be eligible for 4.5 CEUs.   The SAU Coalition Against Human Trafficking welcomes students and faculty across campus to help plan, prepare and participate in the Human Trafficking Conference. The Coalition seeks to fight human trafficking locally, nationally and globally through three venues: education, advocacy and facilitation. Jackson Symphony Orchestra presents Oktoberfest at this month’s Music on Tap Series.  Delta Saints, a Nashville-based quintet, craft raw and visceral rock music with psychedelic flares, fuzzed-out guitar riffs, arresting drum patterns and blues tendencies. Their new record, Monte Vista, released in 2017 is a triumphant culmination of a long journey comprised of ceaseless touring in the United States and Europe and fan favorite records such as the crowd-funded Death Letter Jubilee in 2013 and 2015’s Bones.    8PM, JSO Weatherwax Hall, Downtown Jackson.

The 15 Minute Marriage Makeover Event by Marriage Matters Jackson.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.  Husband and wife team Dustin & Bethany Riechmann will provide tools to refresh your relationship, add sizzle to your sex life, and be happier in just minutes a day! The evening includes the 15 Minute Marriage Makeover presentation, delicious Biggby coffee, dessert, and Q & A hosted by MMJ’s Shelby Raines! Dustin and Bethany Riechmann are the couple behind the book 15-Minute Marriage Makeover and the founders of Engaged Marriage, a site devoted to helping other married couples live a life they love (especially) when they feel too busy to make it happen. They are regularly featured experts on a variety of media outlets and marriage-building programs around the world. SUNDAY OCTOBER 15

The 46th Annual Craft-A-Rama.   Handcrafted arts and crafts will be on display and for sale to the general public at the American 1 Fair Events Center in Jackson on Sunday, Oct. 15th. Admission is only $2 with no charge for children 5 and under. Up to 80 exhibitors will be on site with their quality arts and crafts. This is a juried show which means the exhibitors had to meet our show criteria and only offer handmade products. A large variety of arts and crafts will be on display to include decorative painting, quilting, stained glass, fresh and locally made honey, handmade soaps, wood carving, yard art, metal art, floral decorations and wreaths, Christmas ornaments, jewely, as well as Fall and Christmas decorations. Key Largo Catering will also be offering good food for sale during the show hours. Door prize drawings will take place for shoppers every 30 minutes.  Proceeds from the admission will benefit the nonprofit organization Friends Of The Animals For The Jackson Area, Inc. St. Stan’s Annual Swiss Steak & Golumbki Dinner.  St. Stan’s Social Center, 614 S. Jackson College presents Howie Mandel.  Howie Mandel has remained a constant force in show business for more than 30 years. His versatile career has encompassed virtually all aspects of the entertainment spectrum, including television, film and stage. Mandel currently serves as a judge on NBC’s hit show, “America’s Got Talent.” The comedian will take a break from judging to perform the unique brand of comedy that has earned him international recognition. The show contains adult language and content. Tickets $45, $40 and $32.   Potter Center Music Hall, 7 PM.
