The Napoleon Branch of the Jackson District Library presents the Annual Summer Book Sale. Join us at the Napoleon Branch, between August 14-17 during open hours, for our annual summer book sale. Items are priced individually or fill a bag for $2.  Materials for all ages. Today’s hours are 1pm to 6pm.

Jackson School of the Arts presents Amazing Artist Camp.  This week’s camp is for ages 4-10.  The camp runs today through Thursday, from 9:30-11:15am  If you just love art, this camp is for you!   Be inspired by famous artists, learn their styles and techniques, and create some beautiful paintings on art-board, fabric and canvas. Spend some time in the dance room doing some colorful creative movement. End the week with a mini art show to share your masterpieces with family and friends. $68 includes all supplies and a daily snack.  Details contact Jackson School of the Arts, 517-784-2389  634 North Mechanic Street, Jackson.

Yoga at Meijer Branch, Jackson District Library.  Every Monday and Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and Friday at 8:30 am.  Join Yoga instructor Jeanette Lamphere and learn the basics of yoga.  Suggested donation $3. Intended for adults.  

The Grass Lake Literary and Chocolate Society meets at the Grass Lake Branch of the Jackson District Library.   Get your sweet tooth ready and join us on Monday, August 14 at 6 p.m. as we discuss Salt to the Sea by Ruth Sepetys. New members are always welcome. Intended for adults.

Beach Painting Class at Bone Island Grille.  Come paint this awesome “Beach”; it can be personalized with an anniversary or wedding date or no date at all, its all you painting this.  Its a large 12″x 36″ wooden pallet that you will paint and learn to rustic the wood. You can just put “BEACH” on it if you do not want to personalized it.  Cost is $35 & includes all supplies & instructions. Beginners welcome.  Class runs from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. 4614 Francis Street, Jackson (Vandercook Lake).

The City of Jackson Summer Playground Experience continues today and runs through Thursday, 10am to 4:30pm.  The Recreation Department hosts an organized and supervised program at Cascades School (1200 S. Wisner) and Kiwanis Park (1521 Blakely).  Register on site at any time. Lunch and activities at the park, plus field trips to movies, putt-putt, Nixon Water Park, Binder Park Zoo, DNR Adventure Center and District 5. The Jackson YMCA Travel Camp theme this week is “Backyard Bash”.  It’s time to wrap up the summer with all your friends. Favorite camp songs, games and crafts.  The week (and the summer) ends with a final carnival at the Y, fun-filled Field Day and camp cookout. Details and registration at jacksonymca.org.

Looking for fun and a little adventure?  Ella Sharp Park’s 18 hole Miniature Golf Course holds fun for everyone. The mini course is open 7 days a week, 10:00am to 10:00pm. Rates:  10:00am to 12:00pm – $3.00, 12:00pm to close – $5.00.  Groups of 5 or more – $4.00 each.
