Karen Richard has been selected by Jackson Business and Professional Women as the 2015 Person of Achievement. She received the award and honor at the Business and Professional Women/Michigan at the annual fall state board meeting, held at the Holiday Inn Gateway Center in Flint, MI, on Saturday, October 17, 2015.  She is a Jackson BPW member.  In 2013, she was honored by the Jackson BPW as the recipient of the NIKE award, an award given to a woman owned business in the area.

Karen owns the Jackson Culver’s Restaurant and a Culver’s in Ann Arbor.  She is on the board of the Intermediate School District (ISD) Culinary Department. She has been a member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce for nine years and is currently on the Board and the Executive Board of the Chamber. She has been a member of the Jackson Chamber MLK Diversity Committee and an active participant in the Middle School Challenge Day project.  She has served on the American Red Cross Board of Directors and is an active sponsor of the Jackson Junior Golf Association and the 100 Women Who Care.

She is on the Advisory Board for Baker College of Jackson, and partners with several schools in the area. She is actively involved in many community events and activities. Karen is always willing to be a speaker on her progress to ownership of Culver’s.

In her spare time, she plays golf and is a published Lampwork artist.

The Jackson BPW meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month at the Cascades Manor House at 12noon. A business meeting on the second Tuesday provides an overview of the workings of our organization.  Program meetings on the fourth Tuesday feature speakers on topics of interest to our members. www.JacksonBPW.org
