With the college football season wrapping up here are some of my thoughts.
1. TCU vs. Boise State is the most glaring example of collusion that the BCS has demonstrated yet. By not giving them a chance to wail on two other automatic conference qualifiers once again denies the chance of proving the BCS’s legitimacy.
2. I guess Notre Dame is so afraid of accepting a bowl bid and finishing with a losing record that they will deny their players the chance of playing in a bowl and deny any new coach who is considering the job more time to evaluate talent. If Clausen and Tate haven’t decided to go pro yet….they should.
3. And speaking of Notre Dame, if this really is still one of the premier coaching jobs in the country, why are potential candidates signing extensions elsewhere and holding press conferences to announce that they AREN’T candidates?
4. Does it seem strange that Ohio State is no longer the best team in the state of Ohio?
5. Please give Toby Gerhart of Stanford the Heisman so that we don’t have to hear over and over again about the Heisman jinx or the extra motivation that McCoy or Ingram will have going into the title game.
6. Two big questions for MSU. Will they have enough players to field a team by the time their bowl game comes around and will the band play “Hard Knock Life” instead of the MSU fight song? Sometimes it’s frustrating to be a Spartan fan.
7. Yes this is a down year for USC….but I have a feeling that Pete Carrol and the Trojans are going to be all right.
8. No Tim Tebow, you can’t win them all.
9. Grand Valley State could beat a lot of Division 1 schools.
10. Being a fan of the Big Ten is like being a fan of vinyl records. It’s kind of cool and nostalgic, but there are way better formats out there. If you watched any football this past weekend you know just what I mean.
