BROOKLYN, Mich. —Want to be like a NASCAR Hall of Famer or any of your favorite NASCAR drivers? Now is your opportunity to drive on the racing surface with the popular Track Laps at Michigan International Speedway.

MIS is bringing back its track laps program, where race fans can drive on NASCAR’s fastest racetrack. Fans can experience the banking in the corners and follow the same lines as the NASCAR drivers do – and help raise money for charity.

“This is a highlight for the fans,” track president Roger Curtis said. “We often hear from our fans how they want to drive on the track and now is their opportunity to be a driver for a day. Everyone wants to emulate their favorite driver and experience what a NASCAR driver experiences.”

Fans will have the opportunity to drive laps twice in July. The track will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for laps on Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 14. Reservations for track laps can be made by calling 800-354-1010 (no online purchases available).

Once a phone order has been placed, a ticket will be mailed to the guest in advance of their selected day or will be held in will call for pick up at the event. Guests can purchase tickets at the Administration Office off US Highway 12. All guests must enter and present their ticket at the tunnel entrance to the track off of Brooklyn Highway.

Track laps are $25 for each three-lap segment on the historic Michigan International Speedway. Participants will have the opportunity to drive on the track at a maximum speed of 70 mph led by the MIS Ford Mustang pace car.

Participants will also have the chance to purchase “I Drove the Track” T-shirts to prove they ventured NASCAR’s fastest track.

All proceeds benefit MIS Cares, MIS’ official charity.

The track laps are limited to passenger vehicles only, no motorcycles. No passing of other vehicles will be allowed at anytime. The driver of the vehicle must be 18 years of age and provide a valid driver’s license. All participants will need to sign a waiver before driving on the track. Seatbelts and headlights must be on at all times.

Laps will take place rain or shine. In the case of a date cancellation due to extreme weather or safety conditions, MIS will contact all guests in advance of their visit.

MIS focuses on charity through the program MIS Cares. MIS and its sister company Americrown combined donated a total of $774,873 to local service groups and organizations through cash donations, work programs, grants and sponsorships, as well as tickets and merchandise that clubs raffle to raise money in 2014.
