Mark your calendars for Friday, Nov. 20 – the day of this year’s Jackson Christmas parade downtown.

The 25th annual parade slated to begin at 6 p.m. is themed “A Silver Bells Christmas” and will feature floats, clowns, costumed characters, marching bands and more.

Participants are encouraged to gather at Horace Blackman Park following the parade for a Christmas tree lighting ceremony. After the ceremony, children can visit Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Michigan Theatre, 124 N. Mechanic St.

The parade route starts downtown at Blackstone Street and travels east down Michigan Avenue, ending at Francis Street and tracing the path of the Dig Downtown Construction Project, which is currently wrapping up.

The construction is scheduled to finish in the middle of next week, weather permitting.
