The Cambridge Township Fire Department has been awarded assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). The fire department will receive $159,786 to improve safety operations, including professional training, wellness and fitness programs equipment, and modifications to facilities.  The grant was announced today by Michigan’s U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow.

“It is essential that Michigan firefighters have the necessary resources to protect themselves and public safety during emergencies,” said Senator Peters. “This funding will ensure that our first responders have the professional training and protective equipment needed to safeguard communities effectively.”

“Our firefighters in Cambridge Township put their lives on the line to protect our families and homes,”said Senator Stabenow. “Thanks to these new resources, these brave men and women will have the equipment they need to help them do their jobs more safely and effectively.”

Eligible fire departments and Emergency Medical Services organizations in Michigan and across the country can apply for Assistance to Firefighters Grants.
