Baker College of Jackson will open its doors to the public, prospective students and students 4:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, for a Career Exploration Open House at 2800 Springport Road, Jackson.

The event will explore Baker College undergraduate programs that lead to careers with growing employment opportunities in the areas of:

  • Business administration.
  • Computer information systems.
  • Engineering/technology.
  • Health sciences.
  • Nursing
  • Human services.

There will also be giveaways, and Baker College staff members will be grilling hot dogs for attendees.

“This is a one-stop opportunity for people who are considering higher education to obtain their career goals,” said Steve Simpson, Ed.D., Baker College of Jackson president. “Industry experts and faculty will be available to provide insight into each career field and program, perform demonstrations and answer questions.”

For each of the career programs offered at the Jackson campus, there will be information about employment opportunities, job responsibilities, salary estimates, the needed or desired professional qualifications and educational requirements.

Facility tours will include state-of-the-art laboratories for programs such as nursing, surgical technology, radiation therapy, veterinary technology and cyber defense. Other campus resources that will be open include the Academic Resource Center (ARC), career services, financial aid and admissions.

For fall quarter, the new student enrollment deadline for on-ground classes is Thursday, Sept. 15; for online classes it is Monday, Sept 12.
